Tesla Cybertruck With Autopilot Engaged Tries To Drive Off An Overpass In Freaky Video
I am so sorry you posted the video of a Waymo Autonomous Vehicle stopping for a train at the grade crossing gate⦠The video does not show how it happened, obviously since the car is taller than the crossing arm, it did not drive under it⦠So, how did it get there before the crossing arm came downā¦
We will never know, maybe the signal timing was all screwed up and the alarms went off long before the arms dropped downā¦
So now you can create a useless thread challenging all the facts (and speculation) around this eventā¦
Letās just forget you posted this as it is a non-eventā¦
As a registered tree-hugger and Greenie, I favor autonomous vehicles.
But besto khow this can happen.
I teach Operation Lifesaver. Most mee-mool lights (o)T(o) begin fashing 25 seconds before train arrives at the crossing. With gates some start at 25 or 30 seconds.
Regardless of gates or not, the vehicle should have detected the (o)T(o) and stopped.
Maybe RED LED lamps can flash at 70 Hz which vehicles can read and stop beforeaching.
(Will not be mistaken for 60 Hz street lights, etc.)
We know this can happen and it does so many, many times by vehicles driven by real life human drivers⦠It does not take an auto-driving vehicle for this to happen⦠And if you watch the YouTube Videos, you know that Professional drivers who become complacent will try to run the warning lights and even drive around the automatic lowering gatesā¦
Autonomous vehicles are still experimental. Not even Beta test yet. I hold judgement until final production or at least Beta testing.
Well, this proved that the Waymo autonomous cars drive like my little sister when I was teaching her to drive⦠We also needed to go Left but the traffic was too heavy to safely make a Left Turn. I told her to take a right and we could find a spot to make U-turn later⦠She was impatient and stomped the gas, but only succeeded in getting into the right lane, but the Left lane was still full of traffic so there we sat while the oncoming traffic slammed on their brakes to keep from hitting usā¦
After that, I only let her practice on quiet roads and I left the heavy traffic situations to our parents to teach her⦠All these years later, I do not think she has ever been traffic points free nor ever enjoyed a good driverās discount on insuranceā¦
