The '57 Chevy even had two simulated rocket launchers in its hood.
The designers who were involved with the development of the '55 & '56 models hated the '57 update to their design, and were unanimous that Harley Earl had messed up their classic styling with too much extra chrome, and gadgets like the twin simulated rocket launchers. I agree with them.
These auctions for car #1 are really a question of how much can the other bidders make Rick Hendtick pay for the privilege, Going to worthy causes and of course it’s a tax write off for the amount above the cars MSRP.
It’s somewhat reminiscent of the 1954 Pontiac.
Hendrick only does this for Chevrolet sponsored charity auctions. I think it’s thanks to Chevy for the racing partnership.

He’s bought the #1 car at charity auctions from Acrua in the past but ihe also owns several Acura dealerships. Otherwise it has been all Chevrolet products.
