i have two issues that as far as i can tell appeared today with no warning. first, when turning the steering wheel, it makes what i can best describe as a springing sound (it is actually more of a feel i get from the steering wheel than a sound i suppose, although there is definetly an audible “release” sound). as if a spring under light tension was being released or a moderately stiff elbow or knee joint popped. the sound is not constant and does not happen in the same position in the turning. it occurs when moving or when stationary. the second issue started at the same time, when going over medium to strong bumps, there is a metal on metal rattle coming from the front end. help my baby please. this is an '03 vw gti 1.8t with 32,000 miles.
