I drive a 2017 vw golf, apr tuned, tunes been running great. But earlier I was driving on a nice straight road and I clicked it into the paddle shifters. I speed up to 3rd gear and let it build rpms and then it thumped, I was stepping it a bit. I didn’t shift by accident or anything, never happened before. Any idea on what it could be? Car drove normal rest of the day.
Was this a sound or a vibration? Could it have been the road surface?

It was both, I thought it was the road but I dont think it is, its super smooth. I was low rpm higher gear and it took a sec to build.
Take a look at all four CV boots. Any of them torn?
