VW Eurovans transmissions (aka leaky shields stall trans)

I have a 2002 VW Eurovan. I am having transmission problems. My dealer has told me that a leak in the windshield has fried the wiring harness to the transmission. Does this seem reasonable? We had the windshield replaced in 2003 by a company that states on it’s webpage “Lifetime Warranty on Workmanship”. Of course, they have a different idea of what a “lifetime” is.
