Beetle is suddenly not driveable. Erratic at idle and low rpm but smooths out at 3000 rpm. Codes indicate misfire on cylinders 1, 2, and 4. I am thinking slipped timing belt?
Either bad coilpacks or bad ignition control module. What year?
It is a 2003
Multiple coilpack failures points to an ICM going bad, though I would suggest getting a proper diagnostic of the components rather than throwing parts at the problem, $100 at a time.
Pull the coilpacks and see if there’s oil in the spark plug wells. That’ll be cheap and free.
