VSA Light Honda 2005 CRV

I have 178,000 miles on my 2005 CRV and have recently been experiencing the VSA light coming on. It typically happens when I first start the car ( I have a standard transmission) and it will jerk once in first gear. I pull over and turn it off and restart it. This seems to clear the problem, however, I’m wondering what’s causing it. I’ve been diligent about all maintenance and oil changes on the car, however, this is something new.

I don’t know if the VSA light alone would set a code, but you could start by having the codes read. Auto parts stores in most states will do this for free.

It could just be a problematic wheel speed sensor I guess. A shop w/a Honda scan tool could put your Honda on a lift and check the sensors one by one. As mentioned above, the first thing to do probably is have the diagnostic codes read from the computer memory. You paid for the diagnostic software when you purchased the car, so might as well use it.
