Volvo X Country 1999 Low compression and blew #2 Cylinder

My mechanic says to dump this car and not fix the cylinder. He thinks the transmission will go next and other problems might follow. The catalytic converter already has been repaired and many other electrical problems in the past. Currently the Engine Light is on and the up arrow as well. Should I resign myself and get a mere $1000 for this car or pour more money into it?

If your mechanic is honest and accurate, it might be a good time to cut your losses and move on. A new engine and transmission pretty much total this vehicle.

Resign yourself.

What does “blew #2 cylinder” mean?

I’d say dump the car, but where did you get the $1,000 offer?

I hope it wasn’t from your mechanic.
