Volvo V70

2001 V70 XC. RPMs drop. Dealer has cleaned the ETM, but will not consider replacing it under warranty, until I have the plugged PCV system REPLACED!

I take it replacing the plugged pcv system is not under warranty. What was the cost estimate?

$800.00

I don’t know volvo’s but that sure sounds pricey. Did they say what is involved? If an independent fixed the pcv system, like for half price and there was still a problem would it still be under warranty? Do you work on cars? Are you handy?

Now that is a good question: “… and there was still a problem would it still be under warranty?” I will have to check with the dealer. I would expect that there would not be a problem-the warranty is on a defective ETM.

I have a friend who has a garage, and he is willing to take a crack at unplugging the PCV system. It appears that the main cost is to remove the intake manifold.

I also called the dealership to ask what parts are required to replace the system-I am waiting for a call back.
