I have a 1999 Chevy Prizm with 103,000 miles and this morning the check engine light came on. I took it to a dealer mechanic and he said the vent solenoid and canister is leaking and was quoted $600 for parts and labor to have this repaired. Is this a fair price and is this repair necessary?
Would you please post the codes that were pulled. It would be very helpfull. I just want to make sure that the code that was pulled has anything to do with your EVAP system.
If it does then I would go to a parts store and see what the vent solenoid and canister cost and if you are any kind of DIY you should be able to replace these parts yourself.
We need the exact code have them read. Some places will read them for FREE. Try Autozone or Advanced Auto Parts. Get the exact code not just their translation into English and post it back here.
