V W Euro Van

We are looking for any information about the maintenance and dependability of 2003, V-6, Volkswagon Eurovan.

Well, since you asked so nicely:

Great selection; several of my friends have had these, and the older ones were a maintenance and reliability nightmare. Not sure how good the new ones are.

A close friend owns one same year.

His timing chain (known weak spot) is off time and vehicle barely runs and needs to have tensioner replaced along with chain. This is a $2500 job at an independent since it requires full removal of automatic transmission to access it.

They did recommend changing the automatic tranny in process since another common failure for a total bill of around $4000-$4500. He is skipping and putting this thing up for sale and closing the dark chapter of car ownership.

He does love it when it works though and most owners do.
