I’m taking the th350 auto out of my 77’ chevy pickup. There is a cross member that the trans. mount sits on, but i do not know if this needs to be removed or if I can just remove the transmission mount and slide it out.
The crossmember needs to come out in order to remove the transmission.

If you don’t want to remove the crossmember you can still get the transmission out if you
A.) remove the engine and slide the transmission out towards the front of the truck.
B.) remove the cab and lift the transmission straight up.
You may find it easier to just remove the crossmember. Everyone else does it that way.
