i have 1999 mitsubishi galant- I was driving home and transmission just stoped- I put some transmission fluid but nothing works-no matter what gear I am in,low drive even reverse the car wont move…Does this car have a computer part that controls the transmission? Or does it have a fusable link or something that would shut down transmission functions ???
i dont know
The transmission is computer controlled. As far as the computer shutting down all functions of the transmission, No… Even if you lost all power to the electronics of the transmission, the transmission will continue to move. Under normal circumstances, reverse does not use any electronics. If you lost all transmission function, forward and reverse, unless you have a linkage issue, you are looking at an internal transmission problem.
transman
thanks for the info
I’ve also seen that due to a failed CV joint, the transmission was working but the wheels weren’t turning.
