My 95 Gran AM needs 15 minutes to warm up before the transmission(auto)will engage.After that transmission is fine. If it sits two hrs. or more it will need warming up. My mechanic put a strainer on it but it not help, he says I need a new transmission I can not do that right now. Any ideas of what else it might be? Thanks,Marvin
Sounds like the clutch piston seals have hardened. They do this with age. The cold makes the problem worse and when the trans heats up, the seals soften and will seal allowing the clutches to apply. Try a can of this. I have used this many times in customers and even my own transmission, it will soften the seals. Use one can, you might have to use a can every couple of weeks or so until you can get it rebuilt. Try it and let me know what happens.
