Transmission main housing gasket leak Honda Odyssey 98

I’ve been told by our Honda dealer that they do not fix transmission gaskets or do any transmission work, other than to replace the transmission ($3300-3500). Is this true around the country? Any recommendations? Thanks!

My guess is the Honda dealer does not have a qualified transmission repair mechanic on staff, and therefore they don’t “repair” transmissions. That doesn’t mean the transmission can’t be repaired, it just means the dealer doesn’t have the ability to do the repair.

There is a Honda dealer out here in GA near me. I buy transmission parts from them all the time. They told me the same thing. One of the parts guys always asks me why I still rebuild them. He said that they stopped rebuilding and started selling factory remans for around $4,000-$4,500. People are actually buying these… My average rebuild on a Honda trans is around $3,000-$3,300. And thats using quite a few Genuine Honda parts. Very rarely does my price exceed $3,300 and I think I have had one Honda rebuild exceeding $4,000. Your best bet is to find an independant transmission shop, (A mom and pop type trans shop) who can look at this for you. Your transmission has no pan and consists of a split case. If the case is leaking at one of the case halfs then the trans will need to be removed and disassembled to repair the problem. I would have somebody look at this real good since it is very uncommon for the case to be leaking like that.
