Is this something I should have done on my car now that it has reached it’s 100,000 mile mark? I’ve never heard of this, but the guy at the garage suggested it.
There’s nothing wrong with performing a transmission flush but the transmission pan should be dropped and cleaned along with changing the filter first.
Transmission fluid on an automatic should be changed every 30k miles or so.
I would prefer a transmission fluid change along with a filter cleaning. A flush, along with dropping the pan to clean the filter, should do the job. There seem to have been more than a few outfits, especially national chains, who use the flush, but don’t bother cleaning the filter and they use it as a profit maker. You local independent mechanic likely can do as well with changing the fluid and cleaning the filter.
thanks for the info !!
