I have a 2002 dodge dakota 3.9 L V6 4x4 auto.
it is having problems shifting
it is very sluggish when starting and does not want to shift down when climbing hills
what can i do?
All you can do with this transmission is check the fluid level and condition. Get the vehicle on a level surface with the engine and trans HOT. Place the gear selector in “N”, make sure parking brake is applied then check the level and condition. Top off if needed. Other than that, I would have a trans shop check it. It first needs a scanner on it to see whether the computer is commanding the shifts at the proper time. These transmissions had issues with their governor pressure sensors (Transducers) which caused erratic shifting.
