I have a 2001 Toyota tacoma with a shudder that gets worse at higher speeds. I have had it Aligned, rotated the tires, checked the rims, replaced the tires, had shocks checked and it persists. My local mechanic said to take it to the dealer that he can’t find anything wrong but Im hesitant without more information. I read online about driveline(don’t know what this is) issues causing something similar. What do I need to know before going to a dealer? does anyone know what the tacomas typically have go wrong in this situation.
I can’t tell you anything about Tacoma’s in particular, but I can tell you that the first things I’d inspect (including doing those that you have done) is motor/transmission mounts and the drive shaft joints.
Other than the dealer, you could take it to a second local mechanic for another look & opinion.
Thank you, I’ll check it out.
