Toyota Tacoma Prerunner 2003 (2.7)

The truck has 230,000 miles and has a squeel that sounds like a belt but it’s not. I have put the truck in neutral coasted with the engine off and the noise is still there. The noise only happens when the weather is cold and only when the truck is coasting. Under acceleration the sound goes away. Any suggestion?

Sounds to me like a brake drag issue.
Try your coasting test again, and when you hear the noise, touch the brake pedal. If the noise goes away, it tells you the brake pads were dragging.
If it’s not brakes, it could be a wheel bearing.

No change when braking. I’ll have to take a look at the bearings. Thanks.

Hmm, is the noise from the engine compartment? I’m thinking fan clutch.
