I have a 2006 Highlander Hybrid and I have about 77,000 miles on it. Last weekend I had a problem getting the gas to go in the tank. The tank kept cutting off the gas flow like it was full, but it only had about 1/8 of a tank of gas. So I slowly added to the tank and was able (after about 20 minutes) to get the tank about half full. I had to go out of town and the next time I stopped to fill up I couldnt get the gas tank door to open by pushing the button. So I had to read the manual (can you believe it?)and figure out how to open it manually. Anyway, I took it to the dealership and they have had it for three days. They called today and I looks like it will take about $1000 to fix it; plus I had to rent a car which will be about another $250. The largest part of the bill is for labor b/c they took two days to figure out what was wrong with it. Well I just did a search on line and found several blogs where others have had this same problem. What should I say to the mechanic when I pick up my car? And does anyone know if I will continue to have this problem? I had planned to let my son take this car to college in two years. Thanks for your help!
