Recently had new struts installed on 2002 Hyundai Elantra and one rattled after I got it back from the Hyundai dealership. I took it back in, and the mechanic took a pneumatic tire tool and tighten the shock down as tight as it would go. It now rides like as CJ-5, as in Jeep. Is there a torque setting on the shock?
I assume he tightened the mounting hardware. These nuts and bolts should have no effect on the quality of the ride. The struts themselves do not have an adjusting mechanism.
I do not know how a CJ-5 rides so I don’t know the nature of your complaint. If you are not satisfied with the ride, check to see if the right struts were installed. Perhaps you received the performance versions.
