So I have a 2009 Honda accord ex-l 4cyl. I’m replacing the Vtc actuator. I watch a video for a week on YouTube telling how to do the job and find too dead center. So I did exactly that. I put a pen in the pin hole to loosen the tension on it also. I found to dead center which I think cause everything aligned like the video said it would. I went to replace the part. The job went into the next day. I took the pin out the pin hole cause it was supposed to storm bad and I didn’t want it to blow out anyways. So I realized my new Vtc actuator. So I took it off and put it back on and torch it down to the 83 and the Vtc still didn’t lock. So I was to reply it on thinking maybe I just put it on wrong and I then notice the tension pen in the time tensor wasn’t in the right spot. So me being a dummy moved the cam shaft a few times thinking that would move the tensor pin. My question is what do I do by moving the cam shaft? Did I just lose to dead center? How can I fix my mistake? I was really close to fixing my problem. I have no timing experience but the job cost too much for a ship to do it. My car already wouldn’t start so I figured what the hey, I’ll do it myself
Top dead center means the piston in #1cylinder is at the very top of its stroke.
And if the engine has timing marks, the pointer should be at zero degrees.
So once the engine is at TDC, the timing mark on the crank sprocket should line up with its mark, and the timing mark on the cam sprocket should line up with its mark,
If these two marks don’t line up properly, don’t start the engine.

Ok my biggest question is. What happens if I accidentally move the camshaft. For some reasons my Vtc actuator wouldn’t lock and I accidentally moved the camshaft trying to lock it. I panic and kind of move it couple more times
If you move the cam shaft, you run the risk of bending valves.
But you should feel the resistance of a valve coming in contact with a piston.

So what if I turn it a few times. Like passed the resistance point. Like I felt that and moved passed that. How would I know I bent a valve? Can valve be replaced?
Also does that move me from tdc
