Guess I cant complain!
Well you said it was original tires lease return. My wife bought a lease return and we thought everything looked fine. This was before cell phones. On her way back from shopping at night a tire blew out about 25 miles from home. Wasnāt late enough for me to go looking so she just sat on the side of the road. A couple guys finally stopped and changed the tire. Next day we put four new ones on and she never question buying tires before they are bald.
So nice people helped your wife. did not even make it 25 miles, hate when that happens.
Did someone say, āMichelin defender LTXā tiresā¦
This tire had about 15k miles on it and it was only a couple of years old. It stated as a bubble on the tread, swapped it out with the spare, but did not think about letting the air out and it blew, boy did it blowā¦
Add on question. GMC acadia 2017 limited. Me mr worrywart, tires going on thursday. I was thinking about tpms sensors. Tire shop said they may go 10 years and the batteries are not replaceable. New sensors $50 ea. Recommendation was deal with it as needed. On 1 hand if one fails I go back to the old way of checking pressure periodically. On the other hand 1 fails tpms will need a piece of black tape to cover the warning light. Your car what would you do?
Iād defer on replacing the sensors, and decide what to do later, after they start failing.
Same advice I got to just replace as needed. Some last well over ten years and new ones can fail prematurely. You dont have to resort to black tape or kneeling on thr ground. Just replace as they fail
These days I just coat my old tires with a spray can of Flex Seal.
@cigroller, do you regroove the Flex Seal?
@jtsanders - after enough coats, sure! I also so some siping!
My 2009 still has all 4 OEM TPMS sensors in it and they still worked yesterday when I drove itā¦ Might not tomorrow, but ya knowā¦ lol
My theory is the less you use them (light turning on) the longer they lastā¦ We saw some of them only lasting 3-5 years in Nashville for a while, may have been all the flats from construction going on at one time, cause it seems like when it slowed down some so did replacing sensorsā¦ During that time Nashville had at least 17 tower cranes, and a lot of them had to be brought in from out of stateā¦
Nothing to back this up except just what we at the shop and shops around Nashville had noticedā¦
I always cringe when I see neighbors getting a new roof. Three of them this year. As careful as they are the nails can still get scattered or fall out of the dumpster. Our guy went around with a magnet and I did the same but two years later I would still find a nail or two.
I just canāt recall if itwas a roofing nail we picked up a couple months ago. I put new tire on shortly afterward.
Neighbors got a new roof. The roofers truck had chronically low tires. I have a magnetic sweep thing and picked up many nails in the street sweeping it every day after they left. Neighbors dog had to go to the vet after stepping on a nail. I loaned them the tool and they picked up many nails. Got a roofing nail in the sidewall of my tire once, blaming it on a shingle recycling center nearby the office.
Oh you are not even kidding, we had our roof replaced a few years ago and the crew did a great clean up job, even went around with a magnet sweeper multiple times (I did a few years doing roofs when much younger)ā¦ Well I did a grid walk around on my driveway from the road to the back turn around (behind house) and picked up a nail or two almost every morning for months, those things are magical and just grow out of the driveway or magically appear overnight, I mean it was crazy how many roofing nails I would find every morning, I just had a bucket that I would throw them in every morningā¦ lol
Good tires.
The Michelins are better tires and will last better, but wonāt look as cool as the Duelers. that is my struggle everytime I have to get tires on my pickup.
Could not get them from Costco, Defender LTX M/S not going to be produced after year end. Local shop got them, $40 more. I had some before and they were just fine.
I cannot tell you the difference the new tires make. It was always since we bought it at 27k miles a bit of a wanderer.Did not do alignment, but it is now like driving on railroad tracks straight and true, though the steering was never loose to the point of concern it is tighter now. The extra $40 I paid vs costco as the tire is phased out at year end and showed it no longer available. Should get paid off as they offer free tire rotation every 5k miles. Downside if I have to replace a tire then what?
Downside if I have to replace a tire then what?
Then, back to post #1 and start againā¦ L L . . .
Downside if I have to replace a tire then what?
Sorry, I may have missed if this is a FWD or AWDā¦ If FWD, then you can either just replace that one with a similar design tire, it will not damage the vehicle, and just keep it on the back and cross rotate it or rotate it front/back and deal with a slight pull depending on the tread difference or replace them 2 at a timeā¦
AWD, different game planā¦ lol
