I drive a 98 Subaru 2.5 RS, that started making a squeeling noies. After pulling off the belts trying to diagnose the probem I was trying to put the belts back on I noticed the plastic timing belt cover had warped enough to push on the crank pully and make the squealing noise. I was wondering if this is a normal problem for subarus, or other cars.
Have seen many timing and other covers worn from contact with pulleys not so much noise just a semi-circular hole. Some timing covers just dont want to fit (plastic warpage)
