I just purchased a nice little 96 Hyundai Elantra Wagon 100k miles, one owner for 13 years. I am hearing a clicking sound, kind of like a loud alarm clock ticking. It stops when I apply the brakes. Otherwise, everything seems okay. What do you think?
Does the Elantra have plastic wheel covers? The wheel covers on my wife’s 98 Windstar made a clicking noise at low speeds. Pull the wheel covers off to see if the clicking stops.
Otherwise, the CV joints and/or brakes should be checked.
