Based on what the article says, about the only place Drive Pilot will be a couple of highways around Las Vegas. I suppose the extremely limited application will be a good start for real world testing in the US. California will be a lot bigger challenge, although it looks like it was tested extensively in Germany.
Only 2 more levels to go. This will take the longest. Probably 10-20 years.
