This short video was created using footage from my Rove Dash Cam… Much might be said that I was holding up traffic by driving the speed limit, but if you noticed there were no sidewalks and people walk these roads. And at the end, you’ll notice I turned into the Left Turn Lane to make a Left Turn…
Part of the 2 lane arrow straight road we’ve used since 1979, was 50mph here but too many were doing 75 past driveways and the side streets. Last turn lane is just behibd this spot. Weve almost been rear ended even with the turn signal in advance turning onto our dead end road.
I have a feeling that the biker would have passed you regardless of your speed.
And a spoilered Mustang is no surprise, either.
Nice scenery!
Biker would have passed, anyway.
For lefturns from two-lane roads, I signal early and decelerate in the vacant opposing lane if no lefturn lane and no cross-traffic.
Its the Registered tree-hugger/Greenie thing to do.
Recently did this with three tractor-trailerigs following.
One honked briefly in thanks.
That seems like dangerous behavior . . .
But it’s exactly what I would expect from YOU ![]()

Yes, very dangerous when no vehicles in opposing lane or crosstreet.
(I should have mentioned wide open areand everyone at 65 mph.)
Weve been passed by a biker doing at least 70mph and more like 80 right in the licationof the photo. Sheriff deputys are in the school zone b up ahead, they reduced the limit to 40mph after complaints but theres little enforcement otherwise.
I cannot imagine a more dangerous maneuver than what you suggest, “decelerate in the vacant opposing lane”, no matter how open or how clear it appeared…
I do not care how clear you think the road or the intersection was, your attention was obviously diverted since you were acutely aware of the “three tractor-trailer rigs” in your rear view mirror…
As for the one who you think “honked briefly in thanks” might have just been giving you’re the equivalent of a verbal “One-Finger Salute”. How are they supposed to interpret your maneuver, I would have slammed on the brakes suspecting you are having a medical emergency and just lost control of your car…
The Mustang could have been me… ![]()
Yeah, our esteemed Court Jester will be up for the great Darwin Award one day…
There is a reason mental is in environmentalist
Yes, I am aware of who is ahead and who is behind.
For the upcoming intersection they saw my turn signal for 10 seconds, and then brake lights from starting to slow.
Then moving into the opposing lane with lefturn signal still operating and brake lights on.
Theheading straight down the center of that lane.
Then further slowing and turning into the right lane of the cross-road.
Such appears to be a medical emergency?
(When approaching any intersection, I am already looking for approaching vehicles. Good drivers can make a mistake and run their STOP sign or RED traffic signal.
Physics does not care who has legal right-of-way.)
The two brief honks probably meant thanks. One blast means, ■■■■■. < legitimate word was censored.
The other day in town, pitch black, working on the road so restricted single lanes, I looked and there was a single headlight a little farther in the air than normal. A bike on one wheel. If he would have toppled, no one would ever see him/her/them until they were run over. ■■■■■■.
One day on the freeway going plus 70, all of a sudden two bikes went by me on one wheel like I was standing still. Didn’t see anyone splattered on th3 road though so guess they made it.
Now not to upset anyone but when you are driving 3000 miles a month on two lane highways marked at 55, no way I’m not going 65 or 70. Little traffic, good roads, sue me if you don’t like it.
This is admission of the attitude that posted speed limits are regarded as minumums, not maximum.
And Bing is not the first or last to state such, so nothing personal.
I will continue to regard speed limits by their dictionary definition, even if it makes all the drivers near me “look bad”.

In some places where most were traveling 10 to 15+ over the posted speedimit, DOT increased the speed limit! One section of southbound I-25 was 55 mph, now 65.
Earlier they made southbound I-25 lane #1 (left lane) a free Express Lane for 5? miles. (Lane #1 right border had double solid white line || ) Was great! But later || removed and replaced with broken passing line.
Failed to become a Darwinner in all of these years.
But tomorrow awaits!
But: Is there a risk that that 65mph zone will be treated as the new minimum speed, with drivers routinely doing 75-80mph? Or will state law enforcement finally say enough, and reign speeds in to no more than 70mph in that zone?
I said it before, and I will admit it again: I used to run with the vast majority for whom speed limit = minimum driving speed. I’m glad I’ve changed, and I know I’m not alone.
You’re not reading the room
YOU are the danger
I keep right when I’m driving as I stated here.
Also let me ask you something else…
You’re holding everyone up and making them upset which encourages road rage, poor decisions, dangerous passing maneuvers, etc.
Maybe you could meet everyone halfway and exceed the speed limit by 5 - 10mph on those 1-lane rural roads . . . ?
