I put a little less than 5000 miles on my Model 3 and home charging in a 110v line is almost always adequate. I can use a supercharger if I’ve driven a long distance and want to top off.

I drive my PHEV ~8k miles per year, and I haven’t yet had to do any charging except from the outlet in my home garage. If I take a trip to upstate NY this coming autumn, I will probably use a commercial charging station, but for my usual pattern of driving ~150 miles per week, home charging is just fine.

If you make a long trip, what how much difference does it make to trip cost to recharge the PHEV battery at a commercial charger?

I don’t know, because I have never done it. Remember, like all PHEVs, it runs like a regular hybrid if the battery is fully discharged (actually, it retains a 20% charge, even when it is supposedly fully discharged), and I have never gotten less than 39 mpg when it runs in HV mode, so I could do a long trip without any recharging.

The Slate might be okay for a single person with no kids and a short commute

But it’s priced incorrectly in its base configuration, imo

Beyond buying groceries at Costco, I see little commercial use for it . . . Maybe some niche stuff, like a security guard who patrols only on the company premises

The gardeners and pool guys in our area all need bigger trucks than a Slate
