Tara, Curtis, and baby Van?

I really like the name Vangie for a girl. For a boy, either Evan or Ivan would be good choices. Good luck with your new baby, no matter what you call him/her.

How about Evan for a boy
and
Vanessa for a girl!

At one time I was involved with a guy named Troy. His parents chose that name for the place he was conceived (good thing it wasnā€™t some place like Buffalo). Perhaps the city or state of the conception would make an appropriate middle name.

Weā€™re loving the show here in sweden! How about Ivania, Ivanita, or Vanilla`?

Govan or Govanna interest me, but I have ONE tiny request. If you choose this name, forget I had any part in this nonsense.

Neil Allen

I once knew a girl named Vanerie, pronounced ā€œvon-a-reeā€. Itā€™s a pretty one!

How about Donovan?

Gotta say I agree with Savannah. It was make a great name for a girl as would Vanessa. For boy names, I would go with Evan or Kevan (sounds like Kevin)

I suggest Ivanhoe but with a twist in the capitalization, to comply with modern std. of coolness: iVanhoe.
It would be the first given name where the second letter is capitalized.
(for example, Iā€™m a mOronā€¦)
Baci a tutti, siete adorabili
Corrado (Italy)

How about just giving the kid the initials V.W.? You could name a girl Virginia Wendy or a boy Victor Wallace (plus the last name).

I once came across a fictional character named ā€œV. W. van Roofrackā€, but I imagine that doesnā€™t help much.

Leick (sounds like ā€œLakeā€)

Hi there,

A friend heard this show and thought of me, so sent me a link. My name is Vandyā€¦ Iā€™m actually named after an obscure folk song referenced in a short story by Manly Wade Welman. Iā€™ve only met one other person with the name, and she is a Canadian. Iā€™m a woman, but some guys also use Vandy as a nickname for Vandebelt. Anyway, another fun optionā€¦

How about Donovan - girl OR boyā€¦?

I recommend my own name: Sylvan.

Dear Tara, Curtis and baby, As a family that also crossed Canada and the US in our 1980 VW vanagon I suggest that you name your baby after our oldest son, Evan. You get the van in there but the name suggests there is something more . By the way the best way to bond a family is also through long distance VW vanagon vacations. Best wishes. Susan

Naming your child after inanimate objects you are fond of!! I have a buddy who named his first born after a pair of skis he really liked; Black Diamond MIRA. It took some convincing to get his wife to agree to this one.

Girl: Valerie Wren
Boy: Victor Wayne
unisex: Nighttime Motorsports

Choosing your childā€™s name based on a significant event or memory is a fabulous idea. Van is a fabulous middle name for a boy.

However, as a middle school teacher I beg you to be as subtle as possible with this event. Savannah, Vanessa, Vance, or Evan are common enough names that a child wonā€™t have to explain ā€œwhyā€ frequently, and be put in an uncomfortable position.

I have taught a number of children named after vehicles, who at 12 LOVE to tell the story of how they attained the name.

Sienna
Porshe
Bentley
Chevette
Neona
Lexus

It is amazing what speculation about this does to otherwise normal middle school kids. Also, very awkward parent teacher conferences.

Thereā€™s a cheesy attorney commercial on local TV here in Sacramento for some guy whose first name is ā€œWestā€. I hate the commercials, but like the nameā€¦

Tara and Curtis - donā€™t name your baby after the van! name your baby after the town/state/area where the van was parked and donā€™t tell anyone about it! I think itā€™s too much information for a childā€™s name and casual conversation. But itā€™s a fun thing for you two to have as a secret.
