Subaru Parts

I have a 2000 Outback automatic transmission, which is unfortunately beginning to slip when shifting gears. My friend has a 93 legacy wagon that does not run anymore. I was wondering if the parts, namely the transmission, in his car that still work are the right kind to fit into my car? thanks

Unfortunately, it is not quite as simple as asking if the transmission on one car can be mated-up mechanically with the engine of the other car.

All modern vehicles utilize electronic controls for both the engine and the transmission, and these separate modules must be able to “talk” to each other in order for the engine and the transmission to work properly together.

Additionally, I believe that the '93 Legacy had a 3-speed transmission, whereas the '00 Outback uses a 4-speed transmission.

Trust me–this will not work, even if they seem to “mate-up” perfectly.
