My 2001 Isuzu Rodeo is having a loss of power when first started and will revs itself until put into gear. My mechanic has replaced the temperature sensor, plug boots and checked the fuel system pressure(which showed normal pressure). Now it only revs occasionally, but still doesn?t always have the power it should. There has never been a ?check engine? light on so there are no codes available. We are at a loss at this point and I don’t want to just throw parts at the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?
By “revs”, I suppose you mean that it over revs, going beyond the idle rpm setting? The idle air control valve, or the throttle valve, may be sticking. Use a cleaning spray in the intake tube and throttle bore – available at auto parts stores.
Sorry, yes it revs up to 1500-2000 rmps without touching the gas peddle. Once it’s in gear it stops, but then it seems to not have any power to pull out. Thank you for the suggestion. I will try this today.
