Yesterday, my 1993 Toyota Corolla station wagon (manual transmission) began making a strange noise coming from either the right front or right rear wheel. It sounds metallic but stops the moment I apply any brake pressure at all. The noise also does not occur when I am at a stop in neutral with no pressure on the brake. Any ideas? Thank you!
What you might be hearing are the brake pad wear indicators. These are metal tabs that come in contact with the brake rotors once the brake pads wear to a certain point.
Have the brakes inspected.
