Vibration in steering, appears to be looseness in front end. Seems to increase with engine speed before actual speed. Left front wheel bearing was replaced last year. 230k+ miles.
I’d suggest maybe the RIGHT front wheel bearing is now due to be replaced. Also possibly the CV joints are worn out and causing the vibration.
Looseness in the front end could be a bad ball joint, tie rod end, or bushings. Outbacks seem to have some inherent front suspension issues. When I took mine in for my first (free) oil change there were two people in the waiting area whose late model Outbacks were in for front suspension issues. I don’t know what the issues were, but I did overhear a service writer quote one of the individuals $2000:00 for the repair.
