I tried to pull a steering wheel on my 79 Kurbmaster truck. I used the puller the wrong way and smashed the first couple of threads on the column. I now can not replace the nut that holds the wheel in place. Can I rethread the damaged threads or can I cut off the damaged threads andreplace the nut? Any help on this misshap?
You can file the damaged parts down and the nut should come right off. If threads are damaged all around, you might grind a little off on two sides and still get the nut off.
