Starting Issues

Well I am about 95% sure the starter is to blame in this. I have a 99 Kia Sephia with ~130,000 it usually runs great, except for this morning.

Yesterday there were no problems with the vehicle but once I got in it today, I turned the key all the lights went on, the vents, and the radio (so I guess battery is fine). But I didn’t hear anything when I tried to start it. I thought it wasn’t a big deal, sometimes this happen when its not properly in park so I shift it to make sure I am in park… same thing happens.

I replaced the starter about a year ago with a reman. and did not have any problems except when it had been very cold out, and sometimes regardless of temperature when I start up the car it sounds like the engine has begun to run and then would shut off. Does anyone have any ideas of what it could be before I replace the starter?

Check the neutral safety switch.
It may need to be adjusted or it may need to be replaced.

Thanks I’ll look into this.

I also forgot to mention that it is an Automatic Transmission.

It turned out to be a loose wire going to the starter, is it all right to use electrical tape to hold that darn thing on?
