SSR speedometer lost its mind

My 2004 SSR showed me going at 115 mph today (among various other illegal speeds). In park, or braked at a stop light, it registered between 40 and 60mph. Does anyone know how to fix this?

are the other gauges crazy too?

Chances are that the Vehicle Speed Sensor has lost its mind. This might even bee a loose VSS connection.

Did you get any CEL warning? It should be something like a P1500 or similar.

I have no idea what you are talking about. Could you transcribe the acronyms to englis?. I am quite a lay-person when it comes to mechancics, but I do so much appreciate your reponse.

The other gauges are not crazy. My RPM ranged from 1400 to 1800. Is there something else I should check?

You need a new speedometer cluster. VERY common problem on GM trucks from 2003-2005. About $500 from the dealer. GM issued a warranty extension on their full size trucks for this problem, I don’t think they extended the warranty on SSR’s.
