I drive a 2006 Dodge Grand Caravan which has recently started making a terrible squealing noise that comes from under the hood when the van is idling in gear. The noise stops when the van is running but in PARK. My husband has done a preliminary check of belts and doesn’t see a problem, but clearly something under there is unhappy. Thanks in advance.
We had a persistent problem with a '93 and it was the tensioner pulley. I don’t know where it is on your model year, but try a short squirt (not enough to get all over the belt) of WD40 on the middle of the pulley (not while it’s running). It won’t permanently fix the problem, but it will confirm (or refute) what the problem is.
