I recently had my transmission rebuilt. The day i got it, there is a very loud squeal only when I am driving in reverse. When driving forward doesn’t matter how fast I hear a quiet scraping/grinding. Both noises are coming from the right front wheel base area. I sprayed wd-40 in the area and noise went away. Could this be a cause of the transmission repair or something completely different? 1998 Ford Windstar GL 3.8L. 165,000 miles.
well if it is the brake sqeelers you didn’t do yourself any favors by spraying wd40 on it. Have the brake pads checked to see if they are worn, this is the most common cause of squeel comming from the wheel area.
Thank you. Brakes are fine though. Any suggestions other brakes?
