Spilled water on my shift selector, will it cause problems later?

Hi everyone,

I was driving home from work yesterday, and had a vase of flowers sitting in the center console. My boyfriend had flowers sent to work for Valentines Day. Anyway, I had to brake hard and the vase tipped over, spilling water onto the shift selector and floor. I would say about a cup of water. I think it may have got inside the casing too.

Is this going to cause problems?

If the water didn’t cause any immediate problems it shouldn’t cause any later. If the console is easy to disassemble you might want to take it apart and dry any water you can find, but it’s probably not worth the effort.

People spill things on their car consoles (coffee, soda, water) all the time. The sticky stuff can make a mess but water isn’t really a big concern. It will evaporate.

I wouldn’t worry about it.

It’s the soda thats a problem water is OK.
