I have an 88 Dodge van B150. Something on the main latch mechanism broke while trying to open the sliding door. The door is stuck closed. I have the access panel off, and it seems that the lower arm to the rear catch is not being moved when the handle is operated. I can see that it is the rear latch that stuck, but can investigate no further w/o opening the door. Any tricks?
There Must Not Be A Door On The Other Side To Check Out, Right?
How about a “Take it off yourself” salvage yard near you? Would they have a similar van to work on, experiment with, and take off the parts you need?

I spent all morning trying to find one at local salvage yards. All they had were barn door models.
