Silverado squeals

I have a 2006 4WD Silverado and it makes a squealing noise (similar to hitting the brakes) when I am driving. The brake pads have been checked and are fine and the mechanic blew out the dust in the rear brakes. It still squeals on and off with no rhyme or reason. I don’t think my fix ? turning up the radio ? is a good option. What is making the noise?

If this sound occurs when the vehicle is in motion without regard to whether or not you are braking, turning, or whatever, and varies with speed, I would say you probably have one or more u-joints that are dried out and need replaced. Have a mechanic remove your driveshaft and check for bad u-joints. One or more of them is probably stiff and squeaky.

Thanks, sounds like a strong possibility. Will have it checked!
