The passenger-side sliding door on my 2005 Toyota Sienna will not open, either in the powered or manual mode. In the powered mode, I can hear the motor cranking, but it doesn’t budge. In manual mode, the inside or outside handles pull out, but nothing engages to open the door. There is no opening this door! The window on the door is completely up; I know that a down window affects the door mechanism. A trusted mechanic has me going straight to the dealer. Does anyone have any experience with this? It’s clearly a major safety issue and I’m not looking forward to dealing with my dealer on this.
On my mother’s 2002 Sienna, this happens when someone tries to use the inner door handle to open the door instead of the switch for the power door. The button on the handle gets stuck. Sometimes you can wiggle it to make it pop back out, and sometimes it will come out on its own if you leave it alone for a while.
Well, Amy, what happened? How did you solve this problem?
