I have a 2003 Honda CR-V. I have 86,000 miles on it. In the last 6 months, when the engine is at 1500 to 2000 rpms and I am on a flat road just holding my speed between 25 to 40 mph, the entire car shivers/shakes violently - almost like driving on a washboard road. The Honda dealer said it could be a dry-rotted engine mount but they haven’t had any problems with them. another place I trust told me the engine mounts are okay. No one can tell me why it does this. Does any one else have this problem and did they solve it?
No engine vibration if the car is not moving. If not this sounds like a speed dependant vibration. You have eliminated tire related issues.Really you can hold the RPM’s at 2000 in park/neutral and the engine is smooth?
I have eliminated tire issues. The mechanic checked them all out today. It never happens when idling. It’s very smooth at all other times. It just seems to be when the “conditions are right” and I’m putting just a little pressure on the gas pedal. And when I say it shakes, it really shakes! I immediately change the pressure on the pedal - a lttle less or little more and it goes away.
