Shimmy

I recently had my tires rotated and balanced. When I am traveling at high speed on the freeway and brake the stiring wheel shimmies. What causes this. it didn’t happen until after I had the tires rotated.

Usually this is caused by warped rotor.

Check your lug nuts and go back to the place that rotated the tires. Ask them to retorque your lug nuts using a torque wrench rather than air tools.

Have someone inspect the front end - tie rods & ball joints especially.

It could also be a bad tire, either egg shaped or a seperated belt. If one of the front tires have a defect, it is much more noticable because the front wheels have a direct link to the steering and the front wheels do the majority of the braking.
