I have a 1999 Saab 9-5 that has had a lot of trouble. It has about 95000 miles and it seems like everything has been repaired and replaced. The most recent problem is that the power steering went out n me when I was driving it. I managed to get it home, but after a few weeks, the battery died. I jump started the car and get the battery indicator light, check engine and gear box lights. If I disconnect the jumper cables, the car dies and there is no power to start again. The battery is new as of 4 months ago…
I’m ready to boot the car… any suggestions on what might be going wrong? Transmission fluid is fine, oil level is fine, power steering fluid is fine.
Your alternator could be dead … engine stalled so PS inoperable, engine warning lights glow.
Put in a fully charged battery and check the voltage across the battery terminals with engine running … should be over 14 volts.
