I have a 99 Lincoln Town car which has developed a throbbing noise which is most audible on a smooth road. My suspition is that it is a transmission noise or wheel bearing noise or possibly an air pump, I don’t know if this car has a pump like that.What is it?
Can you park the car closer to your computer? I am having a hard time hearing it from here.

Seriously, however, I don’t believe that a '99 Lincoln would have an air pump for emissions control. Wheel bearings are a possibility, as are badly worn tires.
