The Bug seems to eat running lights-right front burned out now. I can’t for the life of me figure out how to replace them. Any suggestions?

Do you mean the one on the bumper facing front or the one on the side facing the side? If the one on the front, I would suggest do some serious cleaning of the contacts for the bulb and for the plug where the socket assembly plugs into the wiring harness.
Th owner’s manual should tell you how to do simple maintenance such as bulb replacement. Most bulbs are removed from the back of the light assembly.
