Rules of the road

MRland has the same law. If I am stuck in the left or right lane as I pass an occupied vehicle, I slow anyway whether it is police/fire or not.

I ve noticed that many people won t even pull over if an ambulance or fire truck is behind them these days.

me me me me me !

my house isn t burning, why should I miss the light?

jtsanders I agree 100%. Emergency personnel have training and experience with these situations. Someone changing a flat on the interstate? Not so much.

wesw The previous generation was called the “me” generation. I have named the current one the “me first” generation.

Saw this on a facebook group that I belong to.

There is no reason to tailgate someone in the slow lane, especially when I am doing 35 over the limit.

And those flashing lights on top of your car look ridiculous.

Some people actually believe some rules and laws are stupid and do not apply to them. I have personally known a few. I’m not talking about felonies. In order to stay on topic I will only address traffic laws and rules of the road. These laws and rules are designed to help keep drivers and others safe and provide drivers with equal rights and common courtesy. Some of these people can be repeatedly cited and suspended with no apparent effect. What triggered this comment was a news report concerning what must be one of the worst contemporary offenders. Here goes!

He’s still got two years of probation for his egg-throwing antics.
But that didn’t stop Justin Bieber from illegally driving his three-wheeled motorbike on a Beverly Hills sidewalk Thursday.
In the video - first obtained by TMZ - the 20-year-old pop star drives down the sidewalk for a block, passing Dr. TATTOFF, Beverly Hills Pharmacy, and a Chase bank.
Once the cocky Canadian crooner reaches the La Cienega curb, he speeds down Wilshire narrowly missing two young boys and their guardian.
Justin continues to dangerously drive near the crosswalk and almost careens into an elderly orange-haired woman with a walker.
Luckily, all four pedestrians escaped unscathed and they appeared to stare, stunned, as Bieber peeled away.

Obviously the worst thing for these individuals is fame and fortune. I’m thinking the average resident alien would already be deported.

being fred Sanford was kinda cool mean joe, I hade some nice railings, made out of some oak lumber I had salvaged, on my old ford, and would imitate the sanford and son theme when using the truck, to the enjoyment and embarrassement of my family

wrong thread…

I’m disappointed that Obama did not take Justin Bieber’s deportation petition seriously

A conservative president might have reacted differently. I believe Reagan would have seen to it that his green card is revoked, and the punk was immediately deported.

It’s a shame when hardworking undocumented/illegal aliens are deported, while ungrateful legal aliens like Justin Bieber get a free pass

Update on the “Bieb” Apparently he had a perfectly legitimate reason (in his addled mind) for driving his 4 or 5 foot wide Can Am Spyder on the sidewalk leaving pedestrians to fend for themselves. He would otherwise be forced to spend a few minutes stuck in heavy traffic with peasants. The horror! There were also those pesky pedestrians in crosswalks. I offer my insincere apology to this idiot.

I said it before, and I will say it again…
At the rate he is going (both literally and figuratively) I believe that this young man will not have a long life.

Affluenza strikes again!

This discussion is an excellent reason why we should all have to pass the written portion of our states’ driver competency test every time we have to renew our driver’s license, and (perish forbid) have cameras at all controlled intersections (all states), with fines and penalties for scofflaws. Just think of the thousands of new jobs that would create! LOL

The problem isn’t that we forget the rules. The problem is that too many cars have loose nuts behind the steering wheels. Taking a written test every time we renew our license would IMHO be a totally meaningless waste of time and tax dollars.

Regarding Justin Bieber, he’s now been videotaped violating his parole… make that paroles (plural). IMHO it’s past time to revoke his work visa and deport him… after he serves some time behind bars… Six months followed by deportation should wake him up. And if it doesn’t, at least he’ll be Canada’s problem. No disrespect to Canada, a country of good and honest people, but he IS theirs, after all!

I witnessed a possible Bieber syndrome incident yesterday. As I came to a stop at a “T” intersection the only vehicle was a large pick-up approaching from my right. I could see they were exceeding the 35mph limit by 10 or 15mph. This intersection transitions from 35mph to 25mph. As they passed in front of me I could clearly see a male driver with no passengers. His cell phone was stuck to his left ear and he did not slow one bit for the 25mph speed zone. By the time I made my left turn and reached 25mph he was braking for the stop sign 4 blocks ahead of me. He did not signal his right turn or even pretend to stop. 3 young girls about 12 to 13 y/o riding bicycles were approaching from his left in a bike lane with 100% right of way stopped when they realized he was not going to. Was his phone call concerning a family or other emergency? Possible. Does that give him the right to violate traffic laws and put others in danger? absolutely not! I’m just glad the girls were OK.

“Bieber syndrome”… I like that term. How do we get it into common usage?

Please don’t deport Beiber. We don’t want him!

macfisto So sorry. You spawned him.

LOL, I’ve heard that before. Problem is, WE don’t want him either!!!

The problem isn't that we forget the rules. The problem is that too many cars have loose nuts behind the steering wheels. Taking a written test every time we renew our license would IMHO be a totally meaningless waste of time and tax dollars.

I’ve seen many situations where the driver is totally clueless to what the rules of the road are. And many times they do know the rules…but refuse to follow them.

In either case the written test would be worthless. The ones that don’t know the rules could care less about learning the rules.
