Is that OK4450 sitting on the other car?

Where is that license plate from?

You do know that he is not among us anymore? Not for a couple years and great guy. Good information, helpful research, and never yelled at anyone. He missed his wife terribly when she died. Knew anything you wanted to know about motorcycles. Rest in peace.

He was pretty much the best of the best. I think I remember once telling him I wanted to move to live next door to him. Both for help and to just…you know to hang out and chew the fat.

I do know that. He died a couple of years ago. The picture doesn’t look like it was taken a few day’s ago. IIRC he posted a photo of himself shirtless and that’s what led me to make the post.

As another person who says OK4450 was a really good person and is missed somehow I just did not care for the post.

You changed the name of the thread after I posted… lol

My 65 impala ss 396 had a small block when I bought it. I never dig into whether it was a real 396 car. You can only go so far by looking at pics.

Or you can check the Vin.

So you’re saying someone swapped out the 396 for a small-block before you bought it?

With the older (at least late 60’s through early 80’s) 11 digit VIN Mopars, you needed the fender tag code (normally on the left fender) to know what engine was in the vehicle, as well as any and all options…

The fender tags also had the VIN in them…

Brain fart, VIN shows the engine, but the fender tag shows all the options… :man_facepalming: Thanks MikeNH…

There are lookup sights for your VIN. Should give all options for a vehicle.

Hemi cars have tweaks to accommodate drivetrain. Leaf spring reinforcements and so on. Yes, my impala had a small block when I got it. Had a 12 bolt posi rear which was not spec’d for non big block cars if I recall.

Oops, brain fart, not enough sleep combined with prescription pain killer… lol

But in order to know all the options they sometimes use fender tags, Chevy uses a RPO data sticker, most of the time in the trunk under the spare tire cover or in the glove box, check your Vette, it should have one stuck to the glove box or somewhere in the vehicle, that RPO code sticker gives ALL the vehicle specs…

Even doing brakes on some basic cars, you need to know what the RPO code is…

Here is a pdf file of the codes

Sometimes you can find them in the back seat bottom cushion springs

That 'Cuda lives in Norway, based on that license plate. They love old American iron over there.

Sheesh, I was going to print it for future reference but didn’t know it was a hundred or so pages.
