There is a persistent thump type of rattle in the rear of my 2004 Camry. Sounds like a loose shock and is most noticable at lower speeds. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Unfortunately a visual inspection is necessary to assess the situation. A trusted mechanic is needed but it may only be a loose exhaust system component.
I had the same problem, and yes, it was the rear shocks. The mechanic said the design is weak, so he put on a combined shock/spring assembly that worked great. I had the work done at a Meineke shop and was happy.
